Peaceful woman and connected hands

A Foundation of Trust and Growth

Our main focus is on equipping individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to recognize bias, unlearn prejudices, and promote equity. We believe that intentional rehabilitation requires a safe, structured environment. To achieve this, our covenant agreements are essential. These rules ensure we are cultivating a racially positive socialization experience, fostering leadership development, and facilitating genuine racial healing for every member of our virtual community.

Racism impacts everyone; no one is immune to its effects. To be part of this movement and engage in our community spaces, you must agree to abide by our core principles.

The Racism Rehab Covenant

To join us, you must commit to these ten pillars of engagement:

  1. Authenticity is a Must: Show up as you; everyone else is already taken. Be your authentic self—no impostor syndrome allowed!
  2. Universal Respect: Respect is shown to everyone, whether you like them or not.
  3. Commitment to Learning: Be open to learning the good, the bad, and the ugly truths about history.
  4. Courageous Conversations: Be brave and courageous when engaging in difficult conversations.
  5. Radical Honesty: Trust is a must. Be honest and don’t blow smoke.
  6. Constructive Speech: If you can’t find anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all.
  7. Accepting Truth: Do not defend the indefensible. Slavery and Jim Crow happened.
  8. Focus on Growth: Remember that it’s not about what happened; it’s about how we deal with it now.
  9. Fluidity and Openness: Be open-minded. Like water, be willing to move and grow with us.
  10. Radical Kindness: Finally, be kind. It’s not hard.

Why Community Agreements Matter

The structure of our community is designed to address the stark realities of our social landscape. In the United States, the impact of systemic bias is reflected in every sector:

Justice

Justice

According to the U.S. Sentencing Commission, Black male offenders received sentences on average 19.1% longer than similarly situated White male offenders.

Employment

Employment

Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics consistently shows the unemployment rate for Black workers is often double that of White workers, regardless of the economic climate.

Representation

Representation

While making up roughly 14% of the U.S. population, Black individuals hold fewer than 10% of management positions across all industries.

Bias Work Starts Here

Build skills to spot bias, unlearn harmful patterns, and practice equity through brave dialogue and shared agreements. By following our covenant and engaging with our services, you are helping to build a community that actively works to shift these outcomes.
