SUMMARY:Parenting Matters: A Review of the Book By Dr. Kristina DuRocher
DESCRIPTION:#Parenting Matters: This workshop illustrates how parents\, primarily in the South but across the nation\, have upheld a strict\, racially motivated social order for 400 years\, generation after generation. Their children’s participation has been the key to ensuring that the future of nationalized narcissistic whiteness continues. In this workshop\, we will analyze the recent Carmelo Anthony case and how his parents taught him to use self-defense to protect himself. Contrast this with what Austin Metcalf’s parents taught him. The book combines an analysis of a racist society\, showcasing the culture’s efforts to preserve itself by teaching hateful beliefs to the next generation. Dr. Kristina DuRocher reveals that\, in The Socialization of Children in the Jim Crow South\, adults in the late 19th and early 20th centuries continued to reinforce race and gender roles to maintain narcissism. The book examines the practices and traditions that trained children to fear\, dehumanize\, and terrorize their black neighbors. \n*NOTE: Narcissism comes in all Colors\, Shapes\, and Sizes! \nUpon completion of this workshop\, students will be able to: \n\nIdentify key issues in parenting and race relations in America.\nCompare how parents from different cultural backgrounds teach children about racism\, history\, and social identity.\nAnalyze systemic racism\, including its logic\, impact\, and historical roots.\nEvaluate diverse perspectives and debates related to race relations.\nCritically examine Carmelo Anthony and other cases in relation to lynchings\, self-defense\, hate crime claims\, and sentencing fairness.\nExplore educational approaches that help students understand America’s hidden racial history.\nDevelop informed strategies for teaching children about race and racism.\nPropose practical solutions for dismantling systemic racism and improving race relations.
